The 1st Junior County Competition The Spring Meet was held at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Course on Sunday. It definitely didn’t feel like Spring, it was a bitterly cold day!! 9 girls entered and were playing alongside the boys. It was not easy out there and most of them hadn’t played the course before. The lowest gross score was Lizzy Nile (Carlyon Bay) with a 93, runner up was St Mellion’s Lily James on 94, and Maisie Drewett (Falmouth) was 3rd with a 96.
The girls handicap winner was Evie Palmer (St Mellion, 101- 22=79), with Ella-Grace Crocker Carlyon Bay, 106-22=84) runner-up. Third spot was claimed by another Carlyon Bay player in Hannah McGrath (98-13=85).
Lady President Jill travelled up to support the girls and had a walk around the course seeing how they were all getting on.
Many thanks to Chris Poutney for organising the competition and Junior President Matt Tucknott for starting all the juniors off the 1st tee and all the other Junior Committee members for helping on the day.
The next Junior Competition will be at St Enodoc on 3rd April which is a Junior Open.
