A Cornish Golfing Legend

roskrow3Muriel was a highly respected character. She played her golf at Tehidy Park and was an inspiration to all who fell in her path.

She dominated Cornish golf between 1937 and 1966 by winning the Championship 18 times. (an English record). She won the South West Championship twice, at Ferndown in 1947 and at High Post in 1949 and was runner-up 3 times. She played for England from 1948-1950 winning 5 out of 6 matches and was the first Cornish player to represent her Country.

A Curtis Cup trialist in 1949 when she was selected as traveling reserve. She won the Sunningdale Ladies Foursomes with Wanda Morgan in 1956 and was semi-finalist in the English Women's Close Championship at Burnham in 1949.

roskrow2Muriel started playing golf for Cornwall in 1933 and continued until 1973 winning over half of her matches.

Her enthusiasm and love of golf continued after she retired from top class play when she became County Captain (1974-76) and County President (1982-85) and President of the Veteran Lady's Association (South) 1978-82
